-- Anguttara Nikaya 10.87 Wisdom Wide and Deep Non-residential President's Day Weekend Intensive A weekend of meditation and in-depth discussion on concentration and jhana with Shaila Catherine Saturday, February 18 - Monday, February 20, 2012 9:30 am - 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday: 9:30 am – 3:00 pm The program will conclude with a pot-luck lunch. Location will be Menlo Park or Mountain View, depending on registration. Final location will be posted at a later time. THIS WEEKEND PROGRAM will include meditation along with discussion of Shaila's recently published book, Wisdom Wide and Deep: A Practical Handbook for Mastering Jhana and Vipassana. We will discuss themes featured in the first half of the book focusing on the unification of mind through concentration and jhana practices, and explore the role of concentration in the path of awakening. Participants are expected to read the book prior to the retreat. The weekend intensive provides an opportunity to apply the instructions in meditation, and to discuss topics in depth with the author. COST/DANA: $150 non-refundable fee covers basic operational expenses and the book. Voluntary donations/dana offerings to support the teacher are encouraged. In an effort to embrace these teachings in the spirit of generosity, no specific charge for the teacher is included in the basic course fees. A basket will be available for practicing generosity by offering donations (dana) to support the teacher and her ongoing efforts of serving the dhamma.
