Strengthening Mindfulness – Online

A training for living with presence and joy!

Led by Shaila Catherine & Kim Allen

ONLINE via Zoom.

Mondays, June 14, 21, 28, July 12, 19, 26
5:30-7:00 PM Pacific Time

Intended for people who have previously taken an introductory mindfulness course, this series deepens the practice of mindfulness, highlights shifts in our experiences as the pandemic subsides, and leads to profound understandings of the mind. Emphasis is placed on integrating the practice with daily life situations, supported by ongoing daily meditation practice. Mindfulness training is a practical tool that can foster wisdom in any activity, reduce conflict, and produce liberating insights.

This course will include:

June 14 – A Fresh Start with a More Mindful Life with Kim
June 21 – Spiritual Growth through Mindful Speech with Shaila
June 28 – Awareness of Death as a Spiritual Practice with Kim
July 12 – Wise Perspectives for Finding Balance in Everyday Life with Kim
July 19 – Abandoning Worry, Anxiety, and Self-sabatoging Thoughts with Shaila
July 26 – Enhancing Joy Through Mindful Presence with Shaila

Registration: Registration is required for this course. Registration fees are non-refundable. To register, select an option under the Tickets heading at the bottom of this page. To register for a course, you purchase one ticket, which registers you for the entire class series. You only need to register once; you do not need to register separately for each class session.

Course Fee: The sliding scale fee range is from $600 to $150 and includes registration fees and teacher dana. The lower end of the sliding scale is intended for those with limited financial means. The low rate of $150 is a basic administrative fee and does not include teacher dana. We encourage you to choose the highest level that is appropriate for your economic situation. By choosing to pay at the mid to high range of the sliding scale, your generosity helps those with limited income to attend our programs, and provides support for our teachers.

Scholarship Assistance: A limited number of scholarships at the rate of $75 are available for those with very limited financial means. To request this 50% discounted scholarship rate, please inquire with the registrar prior to selecting a ticket by contacting ThursdayClass. The registrar will send recipients of scholarships a coupon code that will lower the shopping cart by half during the ticketing process.

Tax Deductions: The basic registration fee is not tax deductible. Donations above the base rate will be considered voluntary contributions and are deductible for any amount that is over the base rate. Each January, the IMSB treasurer sends donors letters that acknowledge the amount given for the previous year that is above the basic rate; this serves as documentation for tax deduction purposes.

Cancellation Policy: All fees and payments are non-refundable. If it becomes necessary to cancel participation in a course, and the registrar is notified prior to the start of the first class meeting, your registration fee will be converted into a voucher creditable towards the fee for a future IMSB class. Vouchers must be used within one year of the initial course start date, and may be transferred to only one future course. Cancellations that occur after the start of the first class are not eligible for the voucher credit.

Two Sections: There are two sections for this course: Mondays online and Thursdays in-person. Local participants may attend whichever class is more convenient. If local participants experience any symptoms of illness, or even the coughs and sneezes associated with seasonal allergies, please do not come to the in-person class that week; you may attend the online class instead.

Precautions for in-person meetings: The in-person meetings will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants, and meet outside if weather permits. We have chosen an early meeting time to increase the likelihood of meeting outdoors. If county health orders permit indoor gatherings at that time, we may meet in a large sanctuary that under normal circumstances would seat 250. Your temperature will be taken before entering, face masks that cover the nose and mouth are required, and social distancing will be practiced. Please bring a sweater, shawl, or lap blanket to keep warm since we will increase ventilation by cracking open the doors.

About online meetings: A Zoom link will be provided after registration.
