Project Description

My mother was an artist; grandfather and Dad were enthusiastic photographers. I read Ansel Adam’s books. I fell in love with Georgia O’Keefe’s work, and that of Eliot Porter—both are major influences. During my high-tech career in the semiconductor industry I made photographs as time allowed. I retired in 2007 and concentrated on photography.

I apprenticed for ten years to master photographer Charles Cramer as his workshop teaching assistant at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Valley and later in Silicon Valley. I taught astro-landscape photo workshops within the last few years.

I was a Director of the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel.

I love pristine wilderness areas, with the goal of isolating simple and emotional compositions. In California I work the Pacific Coast, Death Valley, Yosemite, and the Sierra. I’ve photographed at many other US locations as well as New Zealand and Africa. I plan to shoot in Patagonia, Iceland and Norway too. Visit rexnaden.com
