Satipatthana: Mindfulness of the Body
An Online Course with Shaila Catherine
Now through October 15: Registration period
October 22 – December 17, 2017: Course includes 6 content modules in ten-day sections, plus welcome and wrap up modules.
Exciting Announcement: Bhikkhu Analayo will offer a special guest teacher appearance along with a question and answer session in one of our live conference calls. This is a fantastic opportunity for participants to discuss this material directly with the author of our primary text.
The Satipatthāna Sutta, an important and practical discourse, has influenced most of the approaches to mindfulness and insight meditation that we practice today. This online course will work with the practices and teachings that are found in the Satipatthāna Sutta with a focus on mindfulness of the body. We will develop mindfulness in relationship to sensations, anatomical parts, and material elements, and practice reflection on death.
This is the first in a two part Satipatthāna Series; a subsequent course will address mindfulness of feeling tone, mental states, and phenomena.
The course will include recorded lectures, reading assignments, sutta study, guided meditations, discussion forums, and optional audio conferences with Shaila Catherine. The core text will be Perspectives on Satipatthāna by Bhikkhu Anālayo. This course is suitable for all levels of experience.
